Meeting held with the representative of the European Youth Forum

The meeting of the representatives of the Commission with the representative of the European Youth Forum was held on October 26, 2007, beginning at 10:00 hours, at the conference room of the Ministry of Civil Affairs. The meeting was attended by Mr. Ante Martic, Youth Work Development and Mobility Policy Officer on behalf of the European Youth Forum, and it was attended on behalf of the Commission for Coordination of Youth Affairs in BiH by Ms.  Valida Repovac Pasic, chairwoman of the Working Body for International Cooperation.

Ms. Pasic informed the guest about the structure and work of the Commission for Coordination of Youth Affairs in BiH. The guest was presented with the activities and results accomplished so far. Discussion was also held on the forthcoming activities related to development of the Youth Policy document.

Mr.  Martic briefly presented the role and work of the European Youth Forum headquartered in Brussels. This organization gathers all the national youth councils and youth organizations of the signatory countries of the Council of Europe convention.

A step closer to the Law on Volunteerism in BiH
In cooperation with the Youth Communication Center from Banja Luka, on September 20 and 21, 2007, on the premises of the Palas Hotel in Banja Luka, the Commission for Coordination of Youth Affairs conducted a presentation titled “A Step Closer to the Law on Volunteerism”.

In addition to the representatives of the Commission and the Youth Communication Center, the presentation was also attended by Nikola Bastinac, President of the Youth Board of the National Assembly of the Republika Srpska Dejan Eresic (Vice-President of the Commission) on behalf of the Ministry of Family, Youth and Sports of the Republika Srpska, and the representatives of volunteer services from Banja Luka, Mostar, Bihac, Mrkonjic Grad, Doboj, and Trebinje.

Completed study trip organized by the Syd Forum

The member of the Commission, Zivorad Kovacevic, paid a study visit to Stockholm, Sweden, from September 17th through 21st, 2007.  The study visit was organized by the Forum Syd organization for the representatives of state bodies in charge of youth and youth organizations in the region, in order to allow them to have insight into the experiences of Sweden in working with youth. The aim was to approximate with and learn about the Swedish experiences in working of youth and with youth, development and implementation of youth policy, method of functioning of the state bodies responsible for youth, model of organization and functioning of the National Youth Council.

Public discussion held with the youth on youth policy
The public discussion/presentation on the topic of "Youth Policy in BiH 2008-2013“ was held on September 6, 2007, in Sarajevo, on the premises of the Ministry of Civil Affairs.

The organizers of this event, in partnership with the Commission for Coordination of Youth Affairs in BiH, were the Catholic Relief Services – CRS, Youth Communication Center of Banja Luka, and BOSPO from Tuzla.

The presentation was attended by some 30 young representatives of non-governmental organizations from towns across BiH, for whom the organizer had on the previous day facilitated the training on the topic of creation and passing of the youth policy, which allowed for better understanding and communication during the presentation itself.

Initiative – Law on Volunteerism

The Commission for Coordination of Youth Affairs in BiH, on the occasion of the International Day of Youth, shall symbolically forward the initiative for drafting and passing of the Law on Volunteer Work - Volunteerism in BiH.

Volunteer work – volunteering has an increasing role in the modern society, particularly in BiH, where in this way every person has the possibility to work for the benefit of the community, to be useful and do good, while developing themselves personally and finding their place within the society. Volunteers, in terms of those acting on a voluntary basis without any self-interest, in our country also have the opportunity to acquire working habits and influence the changes in the society, while themselves developing into responsible and active citizens.
